I notice you are having some discussions on the history of the club, especially when Eire Og came into being.
The name came about because at the time there was no club in Wicklow with the name of either Young Ireland or the Irish vesion Eire Og.
Anyway I have a short history of the club, which the club published about 15 years ago, giving all the details.
If you want me to forward a copy just let me know. Makes interesting reading.
By the way the very first footballs we bought, were purchased with green shield stamps. We went to our first game against Saint Kevins Bray on the regular CIE bus.
In answer to Seamus Whooly's on whether any of the Byrnes played football.
Both myself and Paddy we actualy not bad, playing on the County Under 14 teams, which reached Leinster Finals, and County Under 16 hurling teams. We won plenty under age county championshis with Kilcoole, coached by Ned Coughlan ( RIP)

Peter Byrne

Dinner Dance on the 1st February 2008 in the Rugby Club. Tickets E 30. Where would you get it? A 4 course meal - always only the best from Vincent and Margaret. Then we have the excellent cover band "Big Jewels" who include an "Elvis" special this year. There will be a few speeches from the dignatories and the honour awards for 2007. All welcome. We'd especially like to see the Mums and Dads from the new players in the juvenile section, put on the glad rags, bring a friend. We'll squeeze everyone in. Tickets - ring Fergus O'Brien or Ray Barry or any committee member.

Hearty congratulations to U14 footballers from the sunny climes of Barbados. Would have preferred to have been in the west in the rain with you all but an inflated phonebill and a week in the sun celebrating your historic achievement was the best I could do Proud of you all. THE FUTURE'S BRIGHT - THE FUTURE'S BLUE !!!!.
