Mens Junior 'B'Mentors: Philip SmullenContact: Training: Tuesdays and Thursdays. 7.30 - 9.00p.m. Next match: Championship Match ReportsEire Og 1-10 Donard/Glen 0-0924th July 2006The Junior B team matched the recent championship form of the intermediates as they scored a championship victory over Donard/Glen on a score line of 1-10 to 0-09 in Roundwood last Saturday evening the, 23rd.This was a strong all round team performance and the lads certainly merited this result. A sprightly start saw the team take the lead with early points from Jonathan Grooms and Eddie Delaney, however throughout the remainder of the half Donard/Glen took the upper hand and they went into the break 0-5 to 0-4 to the good. The second period however belonged to Eire Og, with Derek Lynch and Oran Bambrick getting the upper hand in the midfield exchanges. An exquisite long range free from an acute angle by Derek spurred the team on and an opportunist goal by new arrival from Galway Martin Healy sealed the victory. There were strong performances throughout, with Billy Cuddihy a tower of strength at full back, John Covney proving to be an effective target man on the half forward line and the two corner forwards Jonathan Grooms and Martin Healy providing a constant threat to the Donard/Glen defence. This was a promising performance from one to fifteen. They now advance to a quarter final meeting with Laragh. |
