Club Development Draw

There were no cheers from the audience when Gerry Walsh announced the winner of the first of the 20k top prizes in the first Development Draw at the John Wynne 30th bash in the Rugby Club on Friday. The lucky winner resides in Blackrock, Co. Louth, but a number of consolation prizes did, however, come to the club. This draw had teething problems and had been postponed from earlier in the year. We are extremely grateful to ticket holders for their patience and tolerance. Is olc an ghaoth nach séideann maitheas éigin; benefits did accrue to patrons from the postponement - the prize fund was augmented and the number of draws was increased from five to six.

Local Draw

The last of the three local 2K draws also took place on the night. Holiday vouchers to the value of 600euro and 400euro were won by Mary McFadden c/o Maurice Prendergast and Grace Lavelle c/o Des Lavelle respectively. Christopher Corrigan c/o Ray Barry, N,K and C Byrne c/o Anto Byrne, Maria Cooper c/o Philip Smullen, 4 Gems, Tallaght c/o Kevin Keyes and Simon Maher c/o Eoin O'Neill each received a cheque for 200 euro. A number of others won lesser prizes. Details of the draw and a full list of winners are to be found on the club website at

Féile Peil na n-Óg

It is a source of pride for the club that our u-14s have again qualified for the Féile Peil which, this year, is being hosted by a Sligo/ Leitrim/ Roscommon combination from June 29th to July 1st. However, success has its downside. Participation in the Féile is expensive and it is not possible to fund it from the everyday running resources of the club. So the management and parents of the team have organised a number of fund raising projects. One of these, a barbeque, has been arranged for next Saturday night in the Club grounds. Music is by Darragh Woods, and the craic is guaranteed to be mighty. All for only 10 euro, shure where would you get it!

The u-14s are at home to St. Nicholas in the All-County League/Championship to-night Wednesday 7.15p.m.(not a.m. as in fixtures!!)

U-14 hurling

Our u-14 hurlers had an outing against Bray Emmets in the League/Championship on Friday night in Bray. While defeat was their lot they could take pride in their performance against such formidable opposition. The back division, wherein most of the strength of the team lies, had some success in curbing the skilful Emmets forwards but Éire Óg forwards got little change from the Emmet backs - their inability to capitalise on some good goal-scpring opportunities made for a deceptive reading of the game on the scoreboard. Ryan Horan, Josh Campbell and Andrew Walsh were again excellent and James Nolan, Ryan Brandon and Luke Cranley contributed greatly to this spirit-raising Éire Óg effort. The team was delighted to welcome back Gary Elliot after a long lay-off due to injury. Their next game is away to Glenealy on Friday at 7.30 pm.

Five of the team's number were on the Wicklow panel taking part in the Leinster u-14 blitz in Croke Park on Whit Monday.

Intermediates

As part of their Championship preparations, the Intermediates had a useful workout against Arklow on Sunday. They play Dunlavin in the League this Saturday in Dunlavin at 6.30pm.
